Kyle Seeback, Member of Parliament for Dufferin-Caledon, today announced the Alton Legion, Lt Algie VC Branch 449, has received $10,845.05 in funding support from the Veterans Organizations Emergency Support Fund.
“The funding I’m announcing today will help ensure the Alton Legion may continue to keep its doors open to serve the needs of our Veterans and the vitally important role it plays in our community,” said Mr. Seeback. He went on to state, “Legions in Dufferin-Caledon and across Canada have struggled to survive over the last year due to the pandemic, which is an issue I’ve raised repeatedly. I’m pleased this Legion, along with the Orangeville Legion, have finally received this essential support.”
The Veterans Organizations Emergency Support Fund provides grants to non-profit and registered charitable organizations that support Veterans and their families. The grants will help organizations with operational costs and financial shortfalls caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As President of the Alton Legion, I am overwhelmed by the response from the community and the small businesses that have come to our aid during the COVID-19 pandemic through personal and company donations to help the Legion survive,” said Larry Weltz. “The support being provided through the Veterans Organizations Emergency Support Fund will also help mitigate the terrible impacts of the pandemic on our branch. We greatly appreciate the support our MP, Kyle Seeback, has extended to us through his efforts over the last eight months.”
